Released in 2001, "The Late Great Truth" is Stipplicon's second and final album. Jack Dishel would go on to make records under the band name Only Son, and re-recorded three songs from this album on those records. He also played lead guitar for Moldy Peaches.

Before Jack Dishel began performing as Only Son, he released two albums under the band name Stipplicon.

Songs from both Stipplicon albums would later be re-recorded for Only Son releases- these include "True", "Sleepyface, "Falling Behind In The Game" and "Stamp Your Name On It", which was featured on Rough Trade's AntiFolk Vol. 1 compilation.
